'Ewe Listening'

With this painting and several of my others, I decided to explore an abstract background, on very finely gessoed board. I made a point to add yellow and blue tones to the fur and faces of the sheep, to continue the style throughout the painting. This painting was an absolute delight and those curls was pure music through my brushes.

Sheep have very good memories. They can remember at least 50 individual sheep and humans for years. Sheep are precocial and gregarious, enjoying the company of others in their flock. They are extremely intelligent animals capable of problem solving, and are considered to have a similar IQ level to cattle and almost as clever as pigs.
