'Eye to Eye' RESERVED
Acrylic on Belle Arti Cotton canvas box stretched onto museum quality pine stretcher bars.
Size: 32" x 26" ~ Approximately 81 x 66cmThese are two of the eleven beautiful Asian Elephants at Whipsnade Zoo, UK. I photographed them myself while visiting, and it inspired me to create this intimate painting of the two ‘talking’. By giving this painting a black background, it made the elephants stand out nicely, whilst preserving the intimacy of the moment.
Asian elephants can be identified by their smaller, rounded ears. Elephants are widely viewed as one of Earth’s most intelligent animals. They have a highly evolved neocortex, similar to humans, great apes, and some dolphin species. They demonstrate a wide variety of behaviours associated with high intelligence, including compassion, mimicry, grief, altruism, use of tools, and self-awareness.
