Size: 44" x 34" ~ Approximately 112 x 86cmThere are so many beautiful and inspiring photos everywhere you look and it is the fault of every artist that we wish to paint them all!
As an artist I adapt my way carefully selecting my inspiration, to create my own image. Through this, I’ve realised how exciting and interesting it is to pick the best parts from lots of images and then piece it together into my own painting. This ‘Rising Bull Elk’ was inspired from a collaboration of photos, translated through my brushstrokes to the composition I had envisioned in my mind.
Elk are also called wapiti, a Native American word that means “light-coloured deer.” Elk are related to deer but are much larger than most of their relatives. A bull elk's antlers can reach up to four feet above its head, so that the animal including antlers may tower an impressive nine feet tall. During the late summer breeding season the bugling of the Bull Elk is heard, echoing through the mountains. The Bull Elk with the largest antlers, typically older animals, usually win the mating battles and dominate their small herds.
