The deepest feelings were touched within me while completing this painting, taking references and combing inspiration from Michelangelo’s sculpture ‘Pietra’ and Alessandro Farnese’s sculpture ‘Young Hercules’. Whilst working on this painting it was their outstanding work that triggered the strongest emotions within me to create an interpretation using my own vision of the composition. After ten years experience with painting mainly animals I have reached the happy and rewarding transition towards this style of work.
